I am grateful to the President for appointing me to serve as the chief judge of the court, an institution that has been at the center of my legal career––as a law clerk to then-Chief Judge Loren A. Smith, litigator, special master, and judge––for over 30 years. Calhoun County constitutes the 37th Judicial Circuit and currently has four Circuit Judges. The circuit court is the trial court of general jurisdiction in Michigan. The court has jurisdiction over all actions except those given by state law to another court.
